Riding in Cars with James

It was late 70's and I had to be around 12 the first time I heard James Taylor.  My cousin had a cool Maverick back then and she would take me on rides.  I remember she would blast James Taylor and we would open up the windows and I felt the wind in my face and closed my eyes and anything was possible.
It felt incredible.  I was growing up and dreaming of being older and driving.(now I dream of being younger, hee hee)  What a hoot!  If only I could go back in time.
Well last Tuesday my husband took me to see my favorite guy, James Taylor with Carole King.  She was fantastic. The concert was wonderful.  I felt like that 12 year old again listening to these songs that I grew up with.  I took Matt with me.  Both my sons have come to love James Taylor through my love for him.  We unfortunately missed the first 40 minutes of the concert due to an accident on the highway.  I was pouting for the first half of the time I was there as if it were my husband's fault.  I missed Carolina on my mind (my most favorite song of all).  Not that North Carolina is part of my life or anything, but the song is a nostalgic look at a life gone by, changes, growth, moving, and longing for a past time, his youth.  I feel that and I guess that is why that song has always struck a chord for me.  So needless to say I was really bummed.  Rob told me this weekend that they added another show since the one we went to was sold out.  So what did he do?  He got me tickets for this Tuesday night.  You gotta love him!

At the end of the concert they came back for an encore and sang one of my favorites in a duet.
You can close your eyes
I think when my time comes, I would like this to be my song, sung for my family and friends and sons.
Well the sun is surely sinking down
But the moon is slowly rising
So this old world must still be spinning 'round
And I still love you

So close your eyes
You can close your eyes, it's all right
I don't know no love songs
And I can't sing the blues anymore
But I can sing this song
And you can sing this song when I'm gone

It won't be long before another day
We gonna have a good time
And no one's gonna take that time away
You can stay as long as you like

So close your eyes
You can close your eyes, it's all right
I don't know no love songs
And I can't sing the blues anymore
But I can sing this song
And you can sing this song when I'm gone
