Don't Know If I Love It. . . hmmmm. . .

I found this rug at Ballards Design.  It looked alot thinner on line.  I had been wanting a small area rug for under our kitchen table.  I got it today.
I love the color.  I like how it compliments the chairs, but it's alot thicker than I had hoped for and the fringes weren't thin they are bushy with a yarn like look.
I just finished putting it down when one of my dogs started playing with the fringes.  Oh oh!  Can't make my mind up about it.  My husband returns tomorrow, I will see what he's gonna say.
I guess I could replace the fringes with a thin enbroidery like cord and tie them to the ends.  (worst case)  I love the color and how it brings out my chairs.  I love these chairs and have had them forever.
Don't love the messy bushy look on the ends. They also have a few spaces here an there that look like a fringe is missing.   I really don't want to go through the trouble of sending it back when it looks nice.  I'm open for suggestions.

I didn't notice the sections of the fringe that looks missing until you pointed it out...very odd. I actually like that it's thicker...I get really annoyed to pay a lot for a rug online and then find out its as thin as paper! But otherwise I really do like it and it looks beautiful with your dining set.

If you decide to return the rug...check their policy. I recently returned a rug to LL Bean and I had to pay shipping ($40.00 on a 5 X 8 rug) and I had to wrap the whole darn thing as well. Big hassle.

Jane

Same thing happened to me ordered a rug, it was okay, but I had to pay to ship back and it was $60 so guess where the rug is -yep under the dining room table :) I think it looks great~hope you don't have cats they would have a field day with those fringes!

Is it possible to fold the fringe under the rug and see how it looks without? if you prefer the look, you could try taping the fringe to the back fo the rug. Beware, when you untape, you'll be missing a lot of fringe ...

The rug is much too small. A rug under any dining area should be large enough to pull the chairs away from the table and they should still be on the rug, not getting the back legs hooked on it when you are pulling it back in to sit down.

I think the rug is lovely and the thickness doesn't bother me at all. To the contrary, the thickness works with the more rustic textures of the woven chairs and solid farm table. The fringe is bothering you only because the rug is waaaay too small for the set up. You should be able to pull each chair out with a generous edge of rug still left behind the rear legs, so this rug needs at least two more feet (3 would be better)in both width and length. You've sized the rug to fit the table --a common mistake. You need to size the rug to the entire visual unit of the table and chairs together, and the size needs to be even more generous to permit use of the chairs without it catching on the edges over and over. The fringe will be a non-issue if you got the right size. Imperfect details are actually more appropriate for a farm-ish look.

Good luck. Go bigger!

SO frustrating ordering stuff online. The rug is too small for this area. The rug should be at least a few inches more when the chairs are pushed back. I would say you probably need something much larger. Looks like you found a rug for another area....!!! Sometimes serendipitous stuff works out, so hopefully you'll find an even better spot for it.
