A few years ago I added the antique pine dresser that I found on eBay.
It has become one of my favorite pieces in this room. Ever since then I felt that the Ethan Allen piece (the one with the silver matching candlestick lamps) no longer fit. I have been searching for quite some time for something to bring the room together. This room has evolved over the years. It has gone from an eclectic mess to a "formal " sitting room, to what now I believe is more of an example of what has become my taste and what I truly love, a little eclectic, farmhouse and traditional, old and new, elegant and casual mix.
Last weekend my husband and I took our usual weekend drive and we did a little antiquing in some of our favorite spots. I hadn't been back at some of them in quite a while. As I walked into my second stop, I spotted this table.
When it caught my eye it was open in the center of a room with four dinning chairs. The top is a swivel top that opens to create a full length table for four. I fell in love without knowing the top could close. I asked the woman only because I thought perhaps I could use it in our store for display if the price was right. That's when she told me "And did you notice that the top can fold and swivel?"
I gasped! Eureka my table! I said "please tell me the price" and she said 300.
Now although it was a little high for me the table was totally worth it. I quickly batted my eyes at my hubby and said a little prayer and before I knew it Rob was loading it in our car.
I grabbed the botanical from the store to test a few things above the table. So far I'm getting used to it there. I think it works because the frame is simple and rustic and isn't too flashy like the mirror I had in it's place.
Below is the mirror I had placed in that corner. This is a before photo. As much as I love the mirror I felt it added to much to the room and demanded to much attention taking away from the entire feel of the room. (Does that make sense?)
Below is another before photo.
Here is one more look.
